As part of our magazine research, we were requested to create a mood board in order to understand the genre we chose. I chose to focus on pop rock and this was easy because pop rock was a type of music I have on my playlist. On this mood board I chose to include bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and My Chemical Romance.
In the top left hand corner I made that corner about My Chemical Romance, with their logo, as I included albums made especially the most popular album: Welcome to the Black Parade (2006). I included lyrics from the song with the same title as the album. This reflected the band's musical style.
The middle top of the page is about the band: Panic! at the Disco with their logo. It includes lyrics from well known songs like: I Write Sins Not Tragedies; Emperor's New Clothes and This is Gospel. I also included some of their previous album art and a picture of the only member of the band Brendon Urie. Logos and a few screencaps from the music videos of: LA Devotee; Emperor's New Clothes; The Ballad of Mona Lisa and I Write Sins Not Tragedies.
To the top right hand corner, is a collection of images of another band called Fall Out Boy with their logo. This side also includes images of their studio albums. I also included members of the band: Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley. I included a poster from a music video they made called: Young Blood Chronicles. I included a few screencaps from the music videos like: Save Rock and Roll and This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race. In addition I also included lyrics from a few of their own songs like Just One Yesterday, Centuries and Thnks Fr Th Mmrs.
I included these three rock bands because it allows me to understand how unconventional the bands are and this gives me a range of ideas on how to present my magazine which follows the rock genre and specifically the pop rock genre. It also enables me to understand the ways to present the musicians I am going base my front cover and double feature page on.
Finally I included a few pictures of skull because there often are references to death and skulls represent the theme of death. In addition there is a picture of a burnt out angel wings along with pictures of full blown black pupils which relates to the angels and demons in metaphorical senses regarding mental health. I also included pictures of alcohol, satanist imagery and death symbolism because it is a common stereotype that people consider regarding rock musicians and having these in my mood board will allow me to comprehend on how to go against these stereotypes.
